Environmental Responsibility - Doing our part
It is our ongoing mission to incorporate sustainable business practices where possible. We recognize that there will always be ways to improve as new technology become available but here are some of the things we do to reduce our carbon footprint at this time.
Our truck - our truck is perfectly suited to our preferred service area. At approximately 30 miles per gallon, it is easily more fuel efficient than our competitors.
Biodiesel - to lessen our dependence on foreign oil and to decrease our greenhouse gas emissions further, we use waste stream biodiesel to fuel our truck. Compared to petroleum diesel, biodiesel produces less soot (particulate matter), carbon monoxide, unburned hydrocarbons, and sulfur dioxide. It also has higher lubricity characteristics than regular petroleum diesel which results in reduced engine wear. Bonus!
Staying local - we try to focus on the urban centre of Vancouver in order to avoid unnecessary travel to and from jobs. Its the same idea behind eating locally grown food to reduce the need to transport food from far away places.
Recycling - When doing removal jobs, we make every effort to recycle or donate useable items rather than simply throw it all away. We regularly take items in good condition to Value Village, The Salvation Army and the Electronic Recycling Association.
Carbon Offsets - Although we make efforts to reduce our carbon footprint, we still do emit green house gases by operating our truck. To help reduce the impact of our driving, we purchase carbon offsets from Offsetters.ca.
